Man Jailed for 15 Years for Sexual Offenses Against Child

Piers Brilliant, 49, of Wallshead Way in Newport, Shropshire, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a series of horrific sexual offenses against a child.

Brilliant was found guilty of two counts of rape, attempted rape, 12 counts of sexual assaults against a female under 13, possession of indecent images of children and possession of extreme pornography.

The sentencing took place on Friday, July 28, at Telford Magistrates' Court. Brilliant will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.

Sergeant Tim Street, of West Mercia Police, stated, "We welcome the sentence handed down by the judge and are pleased that Brilliant will be held accountable for his crimes. We commend the victim for their courage in coming forward and hope this case serves as a reminder that we take all reports of rape and sexual assault seriously, regardless of when they occurred."
