Stoke-on-Trent Man Jailed for Grooming and Sexually Assaulting Teenage Girl

A Stoke-on-Trent man, Raheem Rahman, 23, has been sentenced to three years in prison for grooming and sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Congleton.

Rahman, of Andrew Mulligan Close, Tunstall, had been communicating with his victim through the Snapchat app and arranged to meet her in Congleton on January 23.

He picked the girl up in his car at 8:10 am and drove to a country lane in the Astbury area. He then stopped the car and sexually assaulted the girl before driving her back to Congleton, according to Chester Crown Court.

Rahman was identified through Ring doorbell footage that captured his car and was arrested at his workplace in Congleton.

During questioning, Rahman admitted to talking to the girl on Snapchat but initially denied any sexual contact. He later pleaded guilty to one count of grooming and two counts of sexual activity with a child.

In addition to his prison sentence, Rahman must register as a sex offender for life and is subject to a restraining order.

Detective Sergeant Simon Mills of Cheshire Police's Eastern Crime Unit praised the victim's bravery and expressed hope that this case would encourage other victims to come forward.

He also emphasized the dangers of social media, stating that Rahman used it to groom the girl before taking advantage of her.

Cheshire Police reiterated their commitment to thoroughly investigating all reports of sexual offenses.
