Convicted Sex Offender Avoids Unpaid Work Due to Health Condition
Raimundo Soares Pinto, 47, of Brewery Walk in Worcester, was found guilty of twice violating the terms of a sexual offenses prevention order (SOPO) at Worcester Magistrates Court on Friday, July 5th.
Pinto admitted to breaching the SOPO in Worcester on October 24, 2022, by downloading a VPN called Fox Speed onto his mobile phone, which he was forbidden from doing under the order. He also confessed to downloading a VPN called Opera Browser onto his Lenovo laptop on the same date, a violation of the SOPO made on February 14, 2022.
As punishment, Pinto was given a community order lasting until July 4, 2026. The order mandates him to complete rehabilitation activities for up to 40 days. However, he was deemed "unsuitable for unpaid work" due to health issues.
Pinto's case highlights the complexities of sentencing for sex offenders and the need to consider individual circumstances, including health limitations, when determining appropriate punishments.
