Dangerous Sex Offender Jailed for Abusing Two Girls

Raymond Higgins, 71, of Old Forest Way in Shard End, was sentenced to 14 years in prison at Coventry Crown Court for eight counts of indecent assault against two young girls. The abuse spanned over eight years, beginning in the 1980s and continuing into the 1990s.

Higgins will be on the sex offenders register for life. He was arrested and questioned in 2019 after his victims came forward and reported the abuse to the police. Despite this, Higgins denied any responsibility for the assaults, accusing the victims of conspiring against him.

The court deemed Higgins a dangerous offender.

DC Sunita Sharma from the Public Protection Unit at Coventry said: "These were a series of appalling assaults on two young girls. Higgins denied any responsibility when questioned by officers and we welcome his conviction. These kind of offences are taken extremely seriously, no matter how long ago they took place."
