Teacher who raped a young male pupil.
A school PE teacher who preyed on vulnerable boys has been jailed for 21 years for rape.
Robert Neill, 63, of Park Lane, Thatcham, was sentenced on Wednesday, March 9, after being found guilty of sexually assaulting pupils at Kennet School between 1986 and 2003.
Neill, who was a housemaster at the school, was described by Judge Angela Morris as a man who "preyed on the youngest and most vulnerable pupils" and left an "indelible mark" on his victims, some as young as 11.
The court heard that Neill would single out the youngest boys in their academic years, as well as "naughty pupils," and demand they visit him in his office. As the head of St Michael's House, he would then carry out his abuse during these office visits within the school grounds.
Neill's wife blew him a kiss across the courtroom as he was led down to the cells. He was sentenced to 21 years in prison for his crimes.
