Lincolnshire Pensioner Jailed for Raping and Grooming Young Girl

Roger Faulkner, 69, of Donington-on-Bain, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for the rape and grooming of a young girl over an eight-month period.

Faulkner appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday, May 10, where he faced eight sexual offences charges. He denied two charges of rape on a child aged under 13 and pleaded not guilty to six other sexual assault charges.

However, a jury took less than 90 minutes to find Faulkner guilty of all eight offenses. Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Faulkner had groomed his victim with gifts and treats.

The judge presiding over the case described Faulkner's actions as "disgusting abuse." In addition to the 17-year prison sentence, Faulkner will serve an extended licence period for one year after his release and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
