Man Jailed for Secretly Filming Women and Children

Ryan Beaumont, 38, from Hartford, has been sentenced to three years in prison for 21 offences, including upskirting, voyeurism, and taking and possessing indecent images of children. He appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday, February 23rd, where he was sentenced for crimes involving nine child victims and 10 adult victims.

Cheshire Police were first alerted in June 2021 after a woman reported Beaumont for upskirting her while he was working as a mobile mechanic. Upon his arrest, Beaumont's electronic devices were seized and examined. During interviews, he confessed to the offenses, stating he would hide cameras in his home bathroom and spare room to secretly film people changing and using the toilet.

Beaumont admitted to deriving an adrenaline rush from capturing footage without the victims' knowledge. He stated his actions escalated to the point where he kept his phone constantly recording, filming whenever he saw an opportunity. He was subsequently charged with:

• Seven counts of taking category C images
• One count of possessing category C images
• One count of possessing category B images
• Eight counts of voyeurism
• Four counts of upskirting

In addition to his prison sentence, Beaumont is subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, will remain on the sex offenders register for life, and is banned from working with children and owning a mobile phone with a camera.
