Northampton Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Sexually Assaulting Young Girl

A Northampton man, Ryan Johnson from Duston, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl. Johnson, 31, denied all allegations against him during his trial but was convicted last month on four counts of child sex offenses.

The jury found Johnson guilty of sexually assaulting the girl two years ago. At his sentencing at Northampton Crown Court on February 11, Her Honour Judge Rebecca Crane addressed Johnson, stating, "Victim impact statements have shown how your victim now finds it hard to trust people. It has affected her friendships, and her mother says it has destroyed her confidence."

The court heard that the young girl confided in a friend after the incident, who then alerted her mother. Johnson was sentenced to 10 years and nine months in prison and will remain on the sex offenders register for life.
