Sexually assaulting a extremely vulnerable woman.

Coventry Man Jailed for Sexual Assault

Saad Sheikh, 30, of The Spinney, Coventry, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for sexually assaulting a woman in Leamington last year.

The incident occurred on the evening of August 1, 2020, near Jephson Gardens. The victim, a woman in her 40s, was sitting on a bench when Sheikh approached her and sexually assaulted her by touching her over and under her clothing.

Sheikh was identified through CCTV footage and arrested five days later. He pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault and was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on September 29.

In addition to his prison sentence, Sheikh was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and was given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. This order restricts him from engaging in any paid or unpaid work with vulnerable individuals.

Detective Constable Nic Mort, from Leamington CID, stated that the victim was an extremely vulnerable woman, and the judge recognized that Sheikh targeted her due to her vulnerability. The assault left the victim distraught and traumatized.

DC Mort praised the victim's bravery throughout the investigation. He also emphasized the police's commitment to bringing offenders to justice and assuring the community that they would continue to work tirelessly to address such incidents.
