Man Jailed for Rape and Assault After Week-Long Ordeal

A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to ten and a half years' imprisonment for rape and two counts of assault after subjecting a woman to a week of violence and intimidation.

Sam Price, of Central Park Avenue, Dagenham, was found guilty following a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, 5 July. He was also given a lifetime restraining order and will be added to the Sex Offenders Register.

The court heard that Price met the victim in Romford on Sunday, 16 July 2023, and within days, began a pattern of abuse. He repeatedly punched and bit her, subjected her to other physical attacks, and made threats.

The abuse culminated in Price raping the victim, who was prevented from leaving her home throughout the seven-day ordeal. Eventually, she managed to call a friend who notified the police.

Officers swiftly arrived at the property and collected evidence including CCTV footage, witness statements, and the victim's account. Price was arrested within days at his Central Park Avenue address following a manhunt by local officers.

Price was subsequently interviewed by detectives from the Met's East Area Public Protection Unit and was found guilty of rape and one count of assault. He had earlier pleaded guilty to another count of assault.
