Man Jailed for Child Sexual Offenses Following GMP Investigation

Sean Johnson (10/05/1990) of Roundhouse Avenue, Wigan, has been sentenced to 16 years and 6 months in prison with a 5 year licence at Bolton Crown Court. Johnson was found guilty of 27 counts related to child sexual offenses.

Johnson was also charged with a section 18 wounding in an unrelated case, which he had earlier pleaded guilty to. In July 2022, he attacked a man in a pub in Wigan, causing serious and life-changing injuries. He received a separate sentence of two-and-a-half years for this assault.

The conviction follows a thorough investigation by Greater Manchester Police detectives and officers, whose dedication led to Johnson's arrest and conviction. This sentencing ensures that Johnson is no longer a threat to the public.

Inspector Andy Devine of GMP's Wigan division stated, "I want to commend the victims in this case for their courage throughout the legal process. Sean Johnson's crimes were truly horrific, and today marks the end of a long investigation."

Inspector Devine continued, "I hope that all those involved can find some peace knowing that Johnson is behind bars and will remain incarcerated for a significant period. We encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault or knows someone who has to come forward and speak to the police. We will listen, investigate, and prioritize your safety."
