Shannon Anderson, 24, from Seaham, appeared in court for sentencing after pleading guilty to sexual activity with a child.

She received the following sentence:

• 2 years imprisonment, suspended for 2 years
• 10 years on the sex offenders register
• No unsupervised contact with any male under 16

Anderson has been granted custody of her 1-year-old child and will retain custody of the child she is currently pregnant with, due in 7 weeks.

She is required to inform her family members of her conviction if she wishes to see them and they have male children under 16.
