Convicted Sex Offender Viewed 'Dog Porn' Weeks After Avoiding Prison
Simon Jenkins, 62, was given an 18-month suspended sentence in September 2021 for distributing indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornography. However, just a month later, he was found to be searching Google for "bestiality images."
Prosecutor Steven Molloy informed the court that Jenkins had accessed a website containing bestiality pornography involving dogs. He had also failed to register his new address with the police, a requirement for registered sex offenders.
Jenkins pleaded guilty to possession of extreme pornography and breaching sex offender notification requirements. His defense attorney, Kellie Enever, argued for a non-prison sentence, citing his recent sobriety and employment.
Judge Recorder John Ryder KC acknowledged the seriousness of the offenses but ultimately imposed a three-year community order for the bestiality material and a £50 fine for breaching the suspended sentence order.
Jenkins was ordered to complete up to 60 rehabilitation activity requirement sessions with the probation service and pay £85 in costs. The judge emphasized the importance of engaging with the order and overcoming his inclinations.
