Man Jailed for Sexual Assault in Slough Woodland

Sorin Anitei, 46, has been sentenced to one year and nine months in prison for sexually assaulting a woman in her forties in woodland near Slough Road on January 9.

The victim suffered serious bruising and a broken nose during the attack. Anitei was arrested on 12 January and charged the following day. He admitted one count each of sexual assault by touching and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Anitei, who has no fixed abode, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday and was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

Detective Constable Thomas Harman, based at Slough police station, said: "Sorin Anitei sexually assaulted and badly injured a vulnerable woman in a secluded location. I believe the serious nature of this offence is reflected in the sentence, which will also help prevent him from further offending."

Harman also expressed gratitude to members of the public who stopped to help the victim.
