Cheshire West Man Sentenced to Prison for Failing to Notify Police

A 27-year-old man from Cheshire West has been sentenced to prison for more than eight months after failing to inform police about his stay at a residence with a child.

Stephen Bonnett, of Mayfield Road, Northwich, appeared in Chester Magistrates Court on June 16, where he pleaded guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements.

Between May 6 and 10, 2022, Bonnett failed to notify police within three days of staying in a household for at least 12 hours where a child lived. He was also charged with the same offense between May 11 and 14.

Despite considering Bonnett's guilty plea, magistrates imposed a custodial sentence due to his previous convictions of a similar nature.

Bonnett was sentenced to 36 weeks in prison. He must also pay court costs of £85 and a surcharge of £156.
