A convicted Grantham sex offender has been jailed for an additional 16 months at Lincoln Crown Court.

Stephen Cherry, 49, was already serving a 10 and a half year sentence after being found guilty of a series of sexual offenses against a young girl earlier this year.

Cherry, formerly of Shanklin Drive, Grantham, also pleaded guilty to two further charges of sexual assault on a second adult victim at Lincoln Crown Court in October. Sentencing was delayed to allow for an impact statement from the woman, who cannot be named.

Judge James House KC sentenced Cherry to 16 additional months imprisonment, to be served consecutively to his existing sentence. A restraining order prohibiting Cherry from contacting the victim or going to her address was also issued.

Earlier this year, Cherry was found guilty of eleven offenses, including sexually assaulting a child under 13, sexual activity with a child, and one charge of oral rape. The first victim came forward in 2022 after recognizing she had been abused while watching a television show and receiving sex education at school. She reported that Cherry "made her do things" and was interviewed by specially trained police officers.

Judge House ruled that Cherry is a dangerous offender, requiring him to serve an extended license period of 12 months upon release from prison.
