Former Shetland Teacher Jailed for Molesting Pupils

A former primary school teacher in Shetland has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for molesting six of his pupils in their classroom over a decade ago.

Stephen Tait, 41, was found guilty of six charges of lewd, indecent and libidinous behaviour following a trial.

The court heard how Tait abused his position of trust to sexually assault his students, causing them significant emotional distress.

In addition to the prison sentence, Tait was also added to the sex offenders register for life.
