Former Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Official Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assaults

Thomas Cadman, the former Deputy Director General for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, has admitted to three sexual assaults at The Red Lion pub in Castle Eaton, Wiltshire.

Appearing at Swindon Magistrates Court on February 9th, Cadman, 42, pleaded guilty to the assaults, which occurred on August 29th, 2022.

Prosecutor Pauline Lambert detailed the incidents, stating that Cadman, who lives in Blackford Lane, less than a mile from the pub, grabbed the buttocks of his first victim twice, once with significant force, as he passed her in a doorway.

He then approached a second woman near the toilets and, after asking if her husband had entered the restroom, grabbed her buttocks. When she pushed him away, he grabbed her face and pulled her head towards him.

The victim reported the incident to the pub landlord, who confronted Cadman and demanded an apology before ordering him to leave. Cadman later approached his victim, who was with her husband, and offered to buy them drinks as a gesture of apology, but the couple refused.

As Cadman was leaving, he stroked the victim's buttocks, an action witnessed by another patron. No mitigation was offered in court, and the case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report.

Cadman, a qualified solicitor, is scheduled to return to Swindon Magistrates Court for sentencing in March.
