Sex attacker who lured woman into his home.

Walsall Man Jailed for Sexual Assault

Wajid Ali, 43, of Webster Road, Walsall, has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison for sexual assault. He was also placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

The incident occurred in March 2019, when Ali lured a woman in her 30s to his home. He then attacked her, causing them both to fall down the stairs. Ali proceeded to sexually assault the woman, but her screams alerted a neighbor who contacted the police.

Upon arrival, officers apprehended Ali, who initially denied the attack. The victim's courage in reporting the assault and providing crucial evidence was instrumental in securing Ali's conviction.

Det Con Gina Tonks, who led the investigation for West Midlands Police, commended the victim's bravery:

"The woman was courageous enough to make a statement and support a police investigation. Ali is a dangerous man and she has helped ensure he's lost his freedom and can't do the same to anyone else."

The victim expressed her hope that her coming forward would encourage other victims, particularly from the Asian community, to speak out against similar assaults. West Midlands Police assures all victims of assault of their full support and assistance in pursuing justice.
