Wayne Traill Jailed for 21 Years for Child Rape and Abuse

Wayne Traill, a 52-year-old man from Stonebridge Road, Northfleet, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for multiple counts of child sexual abuse.

Traill was convicted of 21 offenses after repeatedly abusing multiple victims over a period of more than a decade. He targeted one victim during the 1990s and later abused two other children, threatening them into silence by warning they wouldn't be believed if they reported his crimes.

In March 2022, police received reports of the abuse, leading to Traill's arrest. Initially, he denied any wrongdoing but eventually pleaded guilty to charges including rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, and gross indecency shortly before his trial at Woolwich Crown Court.

The judge described Traill as "a dangerous sexual offender" who had "groomed and abused" his victims. Upon his release from prison, Traill will be subject to an extended license period of eight years and will remain on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.

Detective Constable Daniel Grant, who led the investigation, commended the courage of Traill's victims for coming forward. He stated that Traill is a predatory child sex offender who used fear and intimidation to obtain sexual gratification, causing lasting damage to his victims. Grant expressed gratitude that justice has been served and that Traill is now behind bars.
