Paedophile rapist serving a life sentence for his horrific crimes has been convicted of more sick offences.

William Adams, branded a 'predatory paedophile' by police, was originally jailed for life in 2007 for a sickening campaign of rape against a 12-year-old girl in Liverpool.

This week, he was handed a further three years for historical sex abuse in Northern Ireland in the 1980s, marking the latest prosecution of Adams for sex offences against children.

The 54-year-old had previously served seven years in jail for the rape of a schoolgirl in Ireland before travelling to Merseyside in 2005, just days after his release from prison.

Upon arriving in Liverpool, Adams befriended his next victim, showering her with gifts and taking her family on a three-week holiday to Blackpool – funded by Adams' Catholic priest lover.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that Adams raped his victim every night of that trip. Adams, then of Meadow Hey, Bootle, pleaded guilty to five charges of raping the girl between May and November 2005.

He was subsequently jailed for life with a minimum of seven-and-a-half years before he could apply for parole. He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Detective Inspector Lol Forrest, of Merseyside Police, stated: "We feel Adams is a predatory paedophile who used his charm to gain access to a vulnerable member of society. I hope that his victim and her family can take some comfort from the fact that he will be in prison for a long time."

Adams remained in jail and was transferred to Northern Ireland to face further sexual offence allegations dating back to the early 1980s. He was found guilty of historic sex offences linked to his time at a County Down training and care centre earlier this year.

Adams was handed the three-year term at Belfast Crown Court on Tuesday, as reported by the Belfast Telegraph and Irish News.
