Sick sexual predator jailed for attacking woman while she slept
Yousef Camara, 24, was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of assault by penetration at Bradford Crown Court on Monday.
Camara, of Broad Lane, had been allowed to stay at the victim's property by two young women. Despite a bed being made up for him, he took advantage of their kindness and sexually assaulted one of them as she slept.
Judge Jonathan Gibson said the victim, who must not be identified for legal reasons, had been particularly vulnerable at the time of the offence because she was asleep.
Barrister Paul Canfield, representing Camara, argued that his client had suffered trauma in the past due to a friend's death and racism. He also revealed that Camara had been attacked while in custody last week.
Although no victim personal statement was provided, Judge Gibson stated that the victim had been "incredibly upset" about the incident.
In addition to the five-year sentence, Camara was given an extra two weeks in custody for failing to appear at a previous hearing in January. He will now have to register as a sex offender for life and comply with an indefinite restraining order that prohibits him from contacting the victim.
